Thompson Schedules Nomination Hearing on Melvin Wright to be Judge

Washington, DC–Senate Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Fred Thompson (R-TN) has announced a hearing on the nomination of Melvin R. Wright to be Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The hearing will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, April 1 in Room 342 in the Dirksen Senate Office Building. The hearing will be chaired by Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS).

Melvin R. Wright of the District of Columbia has been associated with the firm of Montedonico, Hamilton & Altman, P.C. in Washington, D.C. since 1986. Before this, he was Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia between 1983-1986. During 1981-1982 he was a law clerk to Judge Robert A. Shuker in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Mr. Wright received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1981, and graduated from Federal City College (now the University of the District of Columbia) in 1977.
