Washington, DC – Senate Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Fred Thompson (R-TN) and Ranking Member Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) announced today that the full committee will hold a hearing on the nomination of Joshua Gotbaum to be Controller, Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

The Controller handles day-to-day operations of the federal government to ensure that sound financial management is being practiced government-wide. The position was created by the Chief Financial Officers Act, one of several pieces of legislation enacted by Congress as a framework for reform of the management of the Executive Branch.

Joshua Gotbaum is currently an Executive Associate Director at OMB. Earlier in this administration, he served as Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy at the Department of Treasury and Assistant Secretary for Economic Security at Defense.
