WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, today released the Committee’s section of the Governmental Affairs subtitle in the Senate Republican budget reconciliation bill. This package targets fraud and abuse in federal programs, delivering over $2 billion in net savings with targeted provisions eliminating fraudulent healthcare claims, strengthening oversight of pandemic spending, and restoring accountability to benefit programs.
The bill cracks down on fraud in the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) program by requiring verification of dependents, auditing for ineligibility, and removing fraudulent enrollees.
Lastly, the bill extends and funds the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC), which will oversee the hundreds of billions in spending under the broader reconciliation bill.
