LIEBERMAN PRAISES KUNDRA’S GROUND-BREAKING WORK TO MAXIMIZE GOVERNMENT IT, ENGAGE THE PUBLIC, FOSTER TRANSPARENCY

WASHINGTON – Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., Thursday issued the following statement on the departure of Chief Information Office Vivek Kundra from government:

“Vivek Kundra will be a hard act to follow. As our first federal Chief Information Officer, he has set the standard for what can be accomplished with drive, creativity, and solid grounding in the subject at hand. He has saved the taxpayers billions of dollars by streamlining federal IT programs, sought new ways to engage the public with its government online, and advanced the principle of open and transparent government.  Most admirably, he has championed the modernization of an outdated federal IT system through smarter investments and better management, putting it on course to reap the benefits of the latest technological developments. His departure is a true loss. I wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
