Progress Report on D.C. Public Schools

This hearing focused on lessons learned in the past academic year of the D.C. Public Schools (DCPS). DCPS had a rough start under the new leadership of the Superintendent and the D.C. Emergency Education Board of Trustees which ranged from very low academic achievement scores throughout the public schools to a delayed school year due to a delay in repairing school roofs. The purpose of the hearing was to release GAO’s study on the flaws of DCPS roof repair process and to see if DCPS was taking steps to avoid the same mistakes for the next school year.
