This will be the fourth in a series of Subcommittee hearings on the federal government’s security clearance process. The hearing will assess progress made to date at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in addressing the longstanding backlog of security clearance investigations, and whether agencies are meeting benchmarks established in the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act’s for completing clearances in a timely manner. The Subcommittee will also examine obstacles to reducing backlogs and completing clearances.
