Portman Statement on the Administration’s Infrastructure Permitting Announcement

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio), author of the Federal Permitting Improvement Act, released the following statement on the announcement of the Administration’s infrastructure permitting plan:

“I’m pleased the Administration is taking steps to reform the federal permitting process,” Portman stated. “While this is a step in the right direction, there is more work to be done and permitting reform should be made permanent through my legislation so that there is increased accountability and certainty.”

Portman is the author of the Federal Permitting Improvement Act, bipartisan legislation designed to streamline and improve the federal permitting process, which is currently laden with uncertainty and unpredictability that hinders investment, economic growth, and job creation.
