Senators Urge the Department of State to Effectively Comply With SIGIR Requests for Information and Documents Within its Audit Authority

Today, Senator McCaskill, along with Senators Lieberman, Collins, Graham, and Coburn, wrote to urge Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to ensure that Department of State officials comply with lawful requests by the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR) for information and documents. The State Department has failed to provide SIGIR adequate assistance and access to information and documents, which has impaired SIGIR’s ability to perform audits of the Department’s use of private security contractors and the Police Development Program.
