COMMITTEE REPORTS HOMELAND SECURITY FUNDING FORMULA & WHISTLEBLOWER PROTECTION LEGISLATION TO SENATE

Washington, DC – The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs today completed action on the following legislation and committee reports:

• Levin amendment #1 to S.21 – agreed to by voice vote
• Lautenberg amendment #4 to S.21 – failed by a vote of 1-15
• Lautenberg amendment #1 to S.21 – agreed to by voice vote
• S.21, Homeland Security Grant Enhancement Act of 2005 – agreed to as amended by voice vote

The following were approved together (“en bloc”) by voice vote:

• S.335, a bill to reauthorize the Congressional Award Act
• S.494, Federal Employee Protection of Disclosures Act
• S.501, a bill to provide a site for the National Women’s History Museum in the District of Columbia
• Report of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, titled: “The Role of the Professional Firms in the U.S. Tax Shelter Industry”
• Report of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, titled: “Profiteering in a Non-Profit Industry: Abusive Practices in Credit Counseling.”
