Chairman Johnson Statement On Terror Attacks In Minnesota, New York and New Jersey

WASHINGTON – Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, had this to say following the terror attacks in New York, New Jersey and Minnesota over the weekend.

“Thanks to the swift action by law enforcement, no lives were lost this weekend. The attacker in Minnesota was killed by a brave off-duty officer, and the identified suspect in New Jersey was captured. It was great police work — hats off to the men and women in blue,” said Johnson. “But these were just the latest attacks in a growing string that includes the horrific attacks in San Bernardino and Orlando, in Paris, Nice, Istanbul and Brussels. We must put an end to the root cause. Until we defeat ISIS, we will continue to live under constant threat. That will take American leadership organizing a committed coalition of the willing. We must remain tenacious and root out Islamic terrorists wherever they have found safe haven.”
