Chairman Johnson Moves 17 Bipartisan Bills Out of Committee

WASHINGTON — Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) advanced 17 bills and three nominations on Wednesday. 

“Each of these bills meets my dual objectives of incremental change and continuous improvement,” Johnson noted in his written opening statement, “the type of common sense reforms that defy partisan rankling.” 

The 17 bills that were reported favorably to the full Senate were: 

S. 1629, the District of Columbia Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency Act of 2015
S. 1576, the Representative Payee Fraud Prevention Act of 2015
S. 742, the Stop Wasteful Federal Bonuses Act of 2015, as amended by an Ayotte Modified Substitute
S. 1550, the Program Management Improvement Accountability Act, as amended by an Ernst Modified Substitute and McCain Amendment 1
S. 1616, the Saving Federal Dollars Through Better Use of Government Purchase and Travel Cards Act of 2015
S. 1580, the Competitive Service Act of 2015
S. 1090, the Emergency Information Improvement Act of 2015
S. 1603, the Border Jobs for Veterans Act of 2015, as amended by a Johnson Substitute
S. 1115, the Grants Oversight and New Efficiency Act, as amended by a Johnson Modified Substitute and Johnson Amendment 2
S. 310, the Eliminating Government-Funded Oil Painting Act
S. 991, the Evidence-Based Policymaking Commission Act, as amended by a Johnson Modified Substitute
S. 1620, the DHS IT Duplication Reduction Act of 2015
S. 1638, the Department of Homeland Security Headquarters Consolidation Accountability Act of 2015
H.R. 728, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 7050 Highway BB in Cedar Hill, Missouri, as the “Sergeant First Class William B. Woods, Jr. Post Office”
H.R. 891, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 141 Paloma Drive in Floresville, Texas, as the “Floresville Veterans Post Office Building”
H.R. 1326, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 2000 Mulford Road in Mulberry, Florida, as the “Sergeant First Class Daniel M. Ferguson Post Office”
H.R. 1350, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 442 E. 167th St. in Bronx, New York, as the “Herman Badillo Post Office Building”

The three nominations that were reported favorably to the full Senate were:

Carol F. Ochoa to be inspector general for the General Services Administration
Steven M. Wellner to be an associate judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia
William W. Nooter to be an associate judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia
