WASHINGTON- Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), ranking member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, highlighted the public release of data by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that shows Medicare Prescription Drug payments:
“Medicare is a critical program that millions rely on every day. Congress and the Administration should continuously strive to make Medicare a more effective and efficient program and take steps to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse. This new public database is a major step toward greater transparency and will offer opportunities for patients, health care providers, and policymakers to ensure our Medicare dollars are being spent properly. I believe this step toward greater transparency will help forge a stronger partnership between the public, federal agencies, and the health care community and improve how Medicare operates.”
