WASHINGTON – Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., Tuesday issued the following statement in reaction to the announcement from the White House that it would deploy the National Guard to the nation’s southern border.
“I fully support the President’s decision to send the National Guard to our southwest border and provide additional resources to the Department of Homeland Security to battle illegal immigration rings and the Mexican drug cartels. We must do everything we can to staunch the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States and make sure the unprecedented level of violence in Mexico does not spill across the border.”
