LIEBERMAN PRAISES STATE DEPARTMENT ISSUANCE OF TRAVEL ADVISORY FOR EUROPE

WASHINGTON – Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., issued the following statement Sunday in reaction to the State Department’s travel alert for American citizens traveling to Europe:

"I appreciate the State Department’s issuance of a travel alert for American citizens traveling to Europe. The Administration is wise to keep American travelers apprised of potential terror activity when intelligence analysis indicates as much. This alert is no cause for alarm, nor is it cause to change travel plans. But it is reason to be  more cautious than usual. Of course, Americans, wherever they may be, should always maintain a heightened sense of awareness about their surroundings. Experience has taught us that terror plots can be thwarted by observant citizens."
