WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, has released legislative text to be considered as part of Senate Republicans’ budget reconciliation bill. The proposal builds on the Trump Administration’s proven success at the southern border by providing $39 billion in new spending to support a total of $75 billion in border security and immigration enforcement investments in the bill. The proposal also provides over $24 billion in rescissions of wasteful spending and reforms to reduce costs throughout other parts of the government.

President Trump accomplished what Washington claimed was impossible—without new laws and without bloated budgets. Daily border encounters are down 95%, encounters with illegals who evade capture after crossing are down 99%, and migration through the Darien Gap has plummeted by 99.99%. This proposal locks in that success by delivering real border security without fueling Washington’s addiction to waste.

With a net $75 billion in additional funding in the larger bill—on top of regular DHS resources—this plan delivers everything needed to finish the job: a secure wall, thousands of new agents, expanded detention capacity, and a legal system that finally keeps up with illegal immigration.

The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee portion of the legislation includes $39.28 billion in appropriations to secure the border by restoring President Trump’s successful enforcement agenda.

The total proposed investment under the HSGAC plan is $39.28 billion, and combined with additional enforcement and deportation funding under other committee jurisdictions, brings total proposed border security spending to approximately $75 billion.
