Protecting Animal and Public Health: Homeland Security and the Federal Veterinarian Workforce

At the request of the Subcommittee, GAO examined the Federal government’s efforts in assessing the sufficiency of this workforce for routine program activities and catastrophic events, including pandemic outbreaks, as well as the workforce challenges Federal and State agencies encountered during four recent zoonotic outbreaks.
