Agenda
The purpose of the hearing was to assess the management and oversight of reconstruction contracts in Afghanistan. In particular, the hearing focused on the extent to which the Defense Department and USAID have incorporated and institutionalized the lessons learned since the beginning of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The hearing also provided an opportunity to review finding from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) regarding the Defense Department’s management and oversight of reconstruction contracts. This hearing was the fifth in a planned series of hearings covering actual and potential waste, fraud, and abuse in Afghanistan contracts.
