Extreme Weather in Alaska:  State and Federal Response to Imminent 
Disasters in the Arctic

U.S. Senator Mark Begich often comments that Alaska is ground zero when it comes to climate change.  The Emergency Management Field Hearing will explore the effects of climate change on our communities and the economy.  Sen. Begich is the chairman of the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Emergency Management, Intergovernmental Relations, and the District of Columbia.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Associate Administrator David L. Miller will discuss FEMA’s roles in both hazard mitigation and in response and recovery.  FEMA Regional Administrator Kenneth D. Murphy will discuss FEMA Region X’s efforts to coordinate FEMA programs and the federal government’s opportunities to support Alaska communities.  The complete list of speakers is attached.
